First Aid and Illness
Illness
There is a clear and proven link between levels of attendance at school and academic achievement, and we are proud of the excellent level of attendance at our school.
Should there be any reason your child cannot attend school (for example, as a result of illness) please telephone or message via MyEd as soon as possible, before 08:45 if you are able to do so. If we don't hear from you by 9.00am every day of the absence, we are required to follow it up.
Should your child become ill during the school day, you will be contacted as soon as possible to take your child home.
Should your child be unable to take part in any school activities on the advice of a doctor, please let the class teacher know.
Accidents and Emergencies
The school is able to give first aid for minor accidents. In the event of a more serious accident or emergency happening, parents will be contacted as soon as possible and appropriate medical attention sought as necessary.
Medicines
Staff are normally prepared to administer a medicine provided:
- The medicine has been prescribed by a GP or hospital
- The appropriate form about the medication has been completed by the parent (forms are available from the School Administrator, or can be downloaded from the link below).
- The school is kept fully informed about how to administer the medicine
- The medicine is given to the Class Teacher for safe keeping
Under no circumstances can staff give medicines which are not prescribed by a Doctor, nor can we give drugs such as aspirin or paracetamol if your child has a headache or toothache.
Should your child suffer from asthma, please obtain an inhaler for use in school as needed.
